The Malaysia International Defense Exhibition, also known as "Asian Defense Exhibition", started in 1988. It is held every two years and has grown into the world's second largest professional defense equipment exhibition. Its exhibits range from land, sea and air defense to battlefield medical products technologies, training and simulation training systems, police and security peripherals, electronic warfare, and more. On the sidelines of the exhibition, an international Defense Symposium was held. Defense policy makers from many governments, such as defense ministers and armed forces chiefs, gathered in Kuala Lumpur to discuss battlefield medicine, cyber security, humanitarian assistance and disasters. Over the past 30 years, the Malaysia Defense Exhibition has become an important platform for Asian countries' armed forces, police forces and other relevant institutions to purchase security and defense equipment.

The 16th Malaysia Defence Exhibition (DSA 2018) was held from 16 to 19 April 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), capital of Malaysia. The exhibition has 12 pavilions with a total exhibition area of 43,000 square meters. More than 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries participated in the exhibition. High-level government and military delegations from over 70 countries visited the exhibition, and more than 43,000 visitors visited the exhibition.
